January this year got off to a great start with a visit from his family to her family's valley; a work/play trip to Origin Festival and a scorching hot job for him in the Tankwa summer.
As part of Afrikaburn's Department of Public Works (her as The Head and him as HEaT Lead) we embarked on an experimental mission to Origin in the greater Greyton region. DPW had to go test the new toilet design that we were to roll out at this year's event. Everything was delayed leaving the city but the team kept it together working late into the night.
While we were there we were also fortunate to help our friends prep, set up, manage and break down the Not the Miniscule of Sound. The NTMoS is a super fun installation where the world's smallest dance floor meets performance art as everyone from the doorlady and the bouncer to the DJ gets to put on a show for curious crowds queuing on the red carpet and entertained guests on the dance floor...
In between Ray also worked on the set up crew for the film set of Carnage - no job is easy in the January Tankwa sun where temperatures creep over the 40'C mark before morning tea time.
